I’m a librarian at a small Philadelphia-area college. Like a lot of librarians, I have a certain amount of collector-itis where books are concerned. I’m also a firm believer in the idea that understanding what a culture eats is a keystone to understanding its thinking, so whenever I start reading up about a new place or time period, I usually pick up at least one related cookbook. I’m an American Revolutionary War re-enactor in my spare time, so a lot of these are 18th century related, either reprints or modern adaptations.

As a result, I have a LOT of cookbooks. I was even buying cookbooks when I was too sick to actually cook any food. Now, it’s time to get some use out of them!

I also happen to like writing and talking about what I cook, so after experimenting with this format on another blog, I decided it really needed its own space. And here it is!

Good choice giving this its own space. I’ve pointed some foodie reenactors to it.
